Standing figure was shortlisted in the Benalla Nude Art Prize 2014. A small work that flowed from the spatula, its use of several viewpoints simultaneously gives it an interesting energy. Prize judge Daniel Thomas said “It’s like a rounded form of Cubism”. Currently on show at Benalla Art Gallery, Victoria until Sunday 13 July.
Nearer to heaven (Triptych)
In 2013 I flew down to Sydney. A big storm was brewing, and we flew between columns of cumulus that towered above. It was like flying through a Greek ruin. I finally understood what “the sublime” means. The use of textured epoxy gives a sculptural quality to each panel.

Nephele – a Greek phantom-goddess created out of cloud by Zeus, to test Ixion’s adulterous advances to Zeus’ wife Hera – is the ultimate cloud-figure. It ended badly for Ixion. Nephele’s spell does things to us all.
